A protein most dogs have never eaten, so it is naturally hypoallergenic. Ours is insect protein, from black soldier fly larvae: highly digestible, with essential amino acids, omega-6 linoleic acid, calcium, phosphorus, iron and zinc. Plus a naturally nutty flavour dogs love!

Ingredients with purpose

Black soldier fly larvae (protein and oil)

Our novel protein. Highly digestible, with all 10 essential amino acids, omega-6 (linoleic acid), calcium, phosphorus, iron and zinc. Naturally nutty flavour.

Marine microalgae

A sustainable source of DHA, a long-chain omega-3 that supports brain and eye health.

Oats, brown rice and buckwheat

Digestible energy and fibre. Oats add β-glucans and vitamin E. Buckwheat is a seed, gluten-free and rich in fibre.

Sweet potato and pumpkin

Fibre for smooth digestion. Pumpkin adds beta-carotene, a precursor of vitamin A.

Flaxseed and sunflower oil

Essential fatty acids for skin and coat: omega-3 (alpha-linolenic acid) from flax, omega-6 from sunflower oil, preserved with natural vitamin E.

Dried yeast

Protein and B vitamins, plus natural flavour.

Kelp

Minerals, including iodine (in our treats).

Cranberries

Antioxidants and fibre (in our treats).

Chamomile and ashwagandha

Herbs traditionally used for relaxation (Calming Care biscuits only; not for pregnant or nursing dogs).

Coconut glycerin and molasses

What are the insects fed?

Traceable, recycled food: fruits, vegetables and grains that would otherwise go to waste.

Where do your ingredients come from?

We source as locally as we can, and our products are made in Canada.

Does ALT-PRO contain preservatives?

No artificial preservatives. Fats are preserved with mixed tocopherols, a natural source of vitamin E, and rosemary extract.

Can dogs with a shellfish allergy eat ALT-PRO?

Please check with your vet first. Dogs, and people, with a shellfish allergy may react to edible insects.

Why does the Daily Recipe contain grains?

Oats, brown rice and buckwheat provide digestible energy, fibre, vitamins and minerals. The recipe is legume-free.
